So sad!

I am bereft! Claire has  her first tooth. Doesn't she know she needs to slow down? I will never see my favorite little toothless grin again :(

That's Lord Helmet to You

Our house has been taken over by mermaids. The girls have outgrown their baby tub :( so we have been bathing them in the big tub and they LOVE it. Just taking a moment to remember them in their tub for their first bath-
Where does it go? They are so big! The girls absolutely love being wrapped up in their towels. We call them Princess Towelly. LOL They love to snuggle up in their towels and hide their faces and just be silly.
Otherwise, the girls are great. They are just growing like weeds and keeping Mommy and Daddy very very busy.
The reason for the title of this post-
Steve was entertaining the girls while I ran to the bathroom or the mailbox or something. When I came back, he had the bumbo on his head and was telling the girls that he is Lord Helmet. It was quite a sight to behold.

And last, but not least, we St. Patrick's Dayed it up around here-

Last catch-up post

Nana and Bob-Bob (Steve's parents) along with Auntie Em got out the Big Red Car while we were in Birmingham. I think they got it out for Leighton but Steve and Uncle Chris put both girls in. I think they actually liked it.
I absolutely can NOT believe these two are six months old! And they have been for 2 whole days! They are such good, beautiful girls. I really can't say enough about them. Their 6 month birthday was also the one-year anniversary of when we found out we were having twins. It has really been an incredible year. I can't believe that a year ago, I looked like this-
And then 6 months ago I looked like this-
And now I have these two little beauties to show for it!-
As you can see, they LOVE to walk. Luckily, it has been pleasant outside lately so we have been walking almost every day. We just walk around the neighborhood for now. Once the girls are taking fewer naps and staying awake longer between them, I'm hoping to take them around to some parks and down to the RiverWalk.

The naps are a whole 'nother story. Our sleep book says they should be taking two to three naps a day night now and quickly going to just two naps a day. They take four. They are sleeping twelve hours at night and have been for almost 2 months now. But four naps a day seems like a lot! Thankfully, they are both on the same nap schedule for the most part so we don't have one taking 2 naps and one taking 4 naps (for now!).  These aren't long naps they're taking either- we're talking 30-40 minutes. But, I always say that they sleep so well at night, I don't care what they do during the day. And they are really pleasant little people. They have gotten where they go down for their naps so easily. I just lay them in bed with a kiss, tuck their bunnies in beside them, cover them with their blankies and play their music box. Come back in 5 minutes and they are out. Its lovely. But I would be interested to know if anyone else's children took this many naps ever?

Still catching up

I decided to split the catching up post into sections. I was afraid my crappy internet would go and I'd lose everything I'd done.
This is a pretty common sight at our house. The girls love to play together so we often put their play things together so they can chat and smile at each other while they play. Its so cute!
Ok ignore the dorkiness and the fact that I'm all sweaty. This is the pouch that I made. The girls love to ride around in it. I guess because usually when they are in it, we're at the store so it means one of them doesn't have to ride in the stroller. They love it and we get so many compliments.
Steve's grandpa passed away a few weeks ago and so we were in Birmingham for the funeral. Steve was able to do the military honors which I think his family really _____. Enjoyed is the wrong word. Appreciated? Maybe. His grandma and grandpa were married for 67 years! A lot of people don't even live that long. That's pretty amazing.

Catching up

I can't believe it has been a whole month since I last blogged! A lot has happened this month so I'll do my best to catch up. Starting with the most distant things first:
This is what its like to have twins- they are always touching each other and beating each other up. Its pretty cute actually. They hold hands all the time which I love. This morning, Amelia was putting her feet in Claire's face like she was trying to make her smell them. Lately I've been having to moderate hair-pulling. Poor Claire. Amelia doesn't have enough hair to pull so its totally one-sided. Not that I think Claire wouldn't pull Amelia's hair. She just hasn't had the chance.
Valentine's Day piggies! Steve's mom came for Valentine's Day because I had to go to the dentist. When I was a hygienist, I was always taught that babies ruining your teeth is an old wives tale but now I'm not so sure. Because I had 6 cavities. 6!
For a little while, Amelia's rolling skills were quite impressive. She started out on the blue play mat at the bottom left of this picture and ended up over there in the middle right. She could have gone further but she got caught by that column. She doesn't roll nearly so much anymore. I guess she's over it. Claire can roll too but she doesn't like to as much. Mostly she rolls onto her tummy, gets mad, and screams for someone to come rescue her.
